OK, so it's not ON the beach, but it is across the road from the beach. Someday soon I hope to be writing blog posts from right on the beach in front of an open ocean view and a forever sky.
I am making my plans, and it's certainly possible, doable, even if there are many new steps between me and my goal.
So, what's uppermost on my mind at the moment, as I sit here with my latte in the Java Beach Cafe, is this. To get 20 people to sign up for email delivery of my blog by the same time next week, i.e. Saturday @10:46 AM on February 16th. I know that's not a big figure, but it's a start for me, since getting other people do to what I want has not been historically one of my stronger skills.
Part of the energy for this comes out of a meeting that I attended yesterday. It was the Successful Thinkers Network meeting at the Coyote Point Yacht Club in San Mateo. It seemed like a great group of people (about 30 attending), and an interesting approach to business networking, focusing more on developing "trust" relationships and less on "handshake and business card" exchanges or pitching one's business as some business networking groups seem to emphasize. I'll be back next week.
Anyway, the energy was very positive, with a dynamic speaker and a fruitful presentation on "time management," which was more on self management than time per se. Lots of good info to take away, and a sense of motivation towards building my new Writing and Publishing Coach business.
So, I think that writing this blog, and finding/building an audience is part of what needs to happen for my business. There are many reasons and associations for this thinking, but one of the main ones at this point is that outside of my "day job" which includes writing every day, the blog is the only consistent way I have found to actually write for myself every day. And I think that getting a growing readership will help keep that motivation strong, as well as positively impact the other projects/clients that I have and will have as I grow.
