I can't tell you how many websites I have built over the years, mostly for myself, but a few for others. Designed and built pretty much from scratch, some of them, handcoded in Windows Notepad in the early days, and in various tools as they became available.
And here I grow again. This time using an online website builder called Weebly. So far, so good. Of course, no drag-n-drop widget based program can do all the things you can code by hand, but at some point one has to compromise between doing in my own way and doing it the best, most effective way.
After all, the point of a website is to disseminate information. Or to create something pretty? It's nice to have some of both, and I think I do, but after many years of creating one website after another, I personally am now focusing on "good enough" to get the job done, with just s sprinkle on my own personal aesthetic.
Once I build the site out so that there are no gaping holes, I am going to focus on driving traffic to the site, and getting business through the site.
And it is fun. I have to admit that. Fun and productive should have to be all that separate, don't you think?
So I am building it, and they will come. Not automagically, but due to the hard work that I am going to put into making them come. THEY WILL COME!
