Late Night Musings
After we talked, my mind balked
Yet I walked out into the early night.
Everything was alright
I could see the light shining softly.
Thinking lofty thoughts,
I went out and got coffee.
At the computer, I still heard her.
just a murmer in my heart.
Something started; and we never parted -
Can never, really, once I felt the fire go thru me.
Now to wrest from the struggle
Just one more chance to snuggle -
Just a tug will remove my cape,
Maybe they'll jape at the tape
On my glasses, or I’ll fall on my ass as
I try to leap into the air.
No fair, they'll cry. We knew the lie
So we just didn't try - wouldn't buy it -
Or tie-dye it, girl & guy it
We had a good cry, a silent sigh and
Wrote it off. Scoffing loudly
Walking proudly.
Now she's gone. We broke the bong,
Wrote the song and then moved on.
I laugh & look, might write a book
About her - Now so high in the sky
And me not knowing why -
It starts, it ends. The road bends
We're friends. Time ends.
Love lends softness to the night.
